Update: ASPREE-XT study visits and COVID-19

Jul 3, 2020

Important information about ASPREE-XT study visits and COVID-19

The ASPREE-XT study team continues to adapt study visit activity in line with government advice.  Study visits may be conducted in-person, or via phone calls, depending on restrictions at the time.

In-person study visits are subject to advice from the Department of Health in your state or territory, and only if you feel comfortable to meet in person.

Face-to-face visits provide the opportunity to contribute physical health measures to ASPREE-XT, such as blood pressure, which are not possible to collect over the phone. A summary of your health measures will be sent to your GP as per normal.

If you are due for your annual study visit, but in-person visits are not permitted at the time, we will call you.  At the arranged date and time, one of our study team will call you and conduct as much of the study visit as possible over the phone.

The usual annual questionnaires, which ask about your wellbeing and physical ability, may be answered during the phone call or completed and returned in a reply-paid envelope after the call. Physical measures, such as your blood pressure, will be on hold until we see you again in person.

COVID-19 presents some unprecedented challenges for medical research and we very much appreciate your understanding as we continue to adapt study activities in line with government advice.
