Important information about ASPREE-XT and COVID-19
In light of easing of restrictions in some locations, we are pleased to be able to resume face-to-face annual study visits in many parts of south eastern Australia. In-person study visits will be subject to advice from the Department of Health in your state or territory at the time, and only if you feel comfortable to meet in person.
Face-to-face visits provide the opportunity to contribute physical health measures to ASPREE-XT, such as blood pressure, which are not possible to collect over the phone. A summary of your health measures will be sent to your GP as per normal.
Safety is paramount. When you are being booked in for an in-person annual study visit, you will be asked questions that screen for COVID-19. This will be repeated prior to your visit. Members of our team will be taking several precautions at the visit, including taking your temperature and wearing a clear plastic face shield for as long as necessary. If you prefer to wear a mask, these will be available, in addition to hand sanitiser and gloves.
On the day of your visit, if you feel unwell, or a member of your house-hold (or anyone you have been in close contact with) develops flu-like symptoms, or you have been in personal contact with a returned traveller since we last spoke to you, please call 1800 728 745 (toll free from a landline) and we will reschedule your visit.
It is unknown where and when restrictions may change in the future. However, we will continue to closely monitor advice from the states and federal Departments of Health and adapt accordingly.
COVID-19 presents some unprecedented challenges for medical research and we very much appreciate your ongoing commitment to ASPREE-XT. We do look forward to seeing you in person in the future!
